rh-git218 - A release of Git, a distributed revision control system with a decentralized architecture. As opposed to centralized version control systems with a client-server model, Git ensures that each working copy of a Git repository is its exact copy with complete revision history.

Instructions

You can get started in three easy steps:

# 1. Install a package with repository for your system:
# On CentOS, install package centos-release-scl available in CentOS repository:
$ sudo yum install centos-release-scl

# On RHEL, enable RHSCL repository for you system:
$ sudo yum-config-manager --enable rhel-server-rhscl-7-rpms

# 2. Install the collection:
$ sudo yum install rh-git218

# 3. Start using the software collection:
$ scl enable rh-git218 bash

At this point you should be able to use git just as a normal application. Examples of commands run might be:

$ git clone https://github.com/openshift/mysql.git
$ git commit -m "Initial commit"

In order to view the individual components included in this collection, including additional conversion tools, you can run:

$ sudo yum list rh-git218\*
